First Lady Michelle Obama will be using her platform as the SXSW Music keynote speaker to talk about her Let Girls Learn initiative, which is aimed at boosting education rates amongst adolescent girls around the world. Her speech will be moderated by Queen Latifah and feature Missy Elliott, Diane Warren, and Sophia Bush.
In conjunction with her speech and the Let Girls Learn initiative, the First Lady has also announced a new song “This Is For My Girls” which was written by Warren, features Elliott, Janelle Monaé, Kelly Rowland, Kelly Clarkson, Zendaya, Lea Michele, and more.
“This is for my girls all around the world,” goes the chorus. “Stand up and be heard.” The track is meant to shed light on the 62 million girls around the world that do not receive a proper education.
The First Lady’s SXSW speech will be live-streamed at 10:30 a.m. CDT tomorrow.
