LISTEN: Andrew Bird Releases New Song “Roma Fade”

Andrew Bird has just released another single: Roma Fade for his upcoming album Are You Serious. The album will be released on April 1st through Loma Vista Recordings.

Bird shared about the single: “‘Roma Fade’ is about the wordless dialogue between the watcher and the watched and the fine line between romance and creepiness. In this song, “she” is a fortress of solitude, yet the observer can still affect her with his gaze.  Whether the attention is welcome or not, something between them has changed.  Notice how the song shifts from third person to first person near the end and it’s actually the observer who has transformed.”

Due to the coverage that this album already has by publications like Pitchfork, NPR, Stereogum, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly etc. many are expecting this to be Bird’s best album yet.

When Andrew first announced the album release he mentioned that it would in fact be different since the album was created with the intention of processing an important event in his life that was particularly hard. Understandably the album is supposed to be a little less whimsical than some of his past music- but still the Andrew Bird that fans have grown to love and grow attached to.

So far, Bird has released three singles for the upcoming album. With the initial announcement for Are You Serious, he released the song Capsized which is about raising a small child while his wife was ill. Then two week ago he released his song “Left Handed Kisses” a clever love song that he wrote with the talented Fiona Apple.

Bird will start a tour for the album at the end of this month.
