The Internet has long been presented as an Odd Future off shoot. Perhaps this can only be expected; despite producing music within completely different genres, both groups share members and a penchant for controversy. Many have argued that earlier work from The Internet evoked too little for the group to manifest themselves as more than a forgettable side project. However, since Syd tha Kyd and Co.’s latest effort, Ego Death emerged in October, The Internet is starting to remold the groups narrative from that of a spin-off to one of a distinct, provocative, boundary-nudging neo-soul crew. Ego Death has received praise from critics and fans alike, and provided us with 3 singles (“Special Affair,” “Curse,” and “Palace”).
Now, the band is releasing a single video, combining all three singles into one visual. The video begins with the group performing “Special Affair” in a black-and-white party setting. The celebration cuts off and returns with only the band performing “Curse.” Special guest and old Internet friend Tyler, the Creator closes out the clip by rapping his verse from “Palace.” The rapper spent much time collaborating with The Internet on Ego Death. The video is not the first from Ego Death. In October, the group shared the video for single “Get Away”. The video contained the same, familiar images of house parties, celebration, and alcohol.
