This weekend, the Deftones kicked off their spring 2016 tour at the Musink festival at the OC Fair & Events Center in Costa Mesa, California. The group debuted their new album “Gore” when they performed new song “Doomed User,” along with several others form the album. “Gore,” produced by Matt Hyde and the group itself, will be released April 8 via Warner Bros.
According to Blabbermouth, Lead singer Chino Moreno told Kerrang! magazine that the new album explore juxtapositions that he finds very beautiful:
“I think Deftones have always flirted with dynamic and that yin-and-yang of things that are provocative and things that are beautiful. Where our last two album titles were a lot more optimistic, I think this title is intentionally different. This record is very different.
“I feel like ‘Diamond Eyes’ and ‘Koi No Yokan’ were brother-sister records in a lot of ways. They were both recording in the same way. And even though it was a tough few years we went through while making those records, I think it was important to have their optimistic outlook.”

While the album will not be released until next month, “Gore” is available for pre-order on the Deftones website. Pre-orders include an instant download of the album’s first single, “Prayers/Triangles”. In addition to the songs performed this weekend, the album will include a guest appearance from Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell. The album follows the groups 2012 effort, Koi No Yokan.
