WATCH: Kesha Releases Short Song Thanking Fans For Support

Kesha has released a new song to thank her fans and peers for the outpouring of support amid her nasty legal battle with Sony and Dr. Luke.  For those who don’t know, the singer filed suit against her former producer on the charges of drugging, raping and mentally abusing her for nearly a decade. Last week, she was denied an injunction to break her recording contract with the producer.

She has since received an incredible amount of support, with her fans and fellow pop stars speaking out on the issue of sexism and abuse in the music industry. Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande are just a few of the singers who spoke on her behalf, while Taylor Swift generously donated $250,000 to help contribute to Kesha’s legal fees. In return, she has decided to release a short song to thank everybody for their support.

Kesha’s lawyer Mark Geragos shared a brief clip of the pop star singing a new track, along with a short message. “A special thanks to everyone who has had her back,” he tweeted along with “animals,” the name of her fandom. The clip shows Kesha singing a short but sweet tune with grateful and uplifting lyrics. She croons “I don’t know what I would do, without you/ I don’t know where I would be, without,” she continues until the video cuts out.

Canadian artist Grimes has also spoken out on the legal battle, stating that forcing Kesha to stay in her contract is “basically like slavery.” Known for speaking about about sexism in the music industry in the past, you can read her full statement below.

“You shouldn’t be allowed to sign a human being, regardless of what the allegations are or what anyone said or did. It’s basically like slavery. She should be allowed to record [with other people]. It’s a deeply f—ed situation.”
