Kesha Releases Statement Regarding Legal Battle With Dr. Luke

Kesha, the young musician who brought you the hit single “Tik Tok,” released statement through Rolling Stone magazine about her ongoing legal battle with producer, Dr. Luke. For those who have not heard about Kesha’s legal battle, the singer is filing a suit against her producer on the charges of drugging, rape and mentally abusing the young woman. “All I ever wanted was to be able to make music without being afraid, scared, or abused,” Kesha wrote on her Facebook page this Wednesday afternoon, “This case has never been about a renegotiation of my record contract – it was never about getting a bigger, or a better deal. This is about being free from my abuser. I would be willing to work with Sony if they do the right thing and break all ties that bind me to my abuser.”

Dr. Luke’s legal team says otherwise, stating that Kesha’s producer never harmed the musician with drugs, rape, or abuse of any kind. Dr. Luke’s legal team responded with her allegations as something lucrative about her music contract with Sony, where Kesha must produce a total of six-albums for Sony. She only has four albums left to make for Sony Music until her contract has been terminated. The musican stated in her Facebook post that she has become become aware of allegations put against her by Dr. Luke’s and his lawyers and knows that her music career is just one of the things that could come crashing down around this lengthy court process, her reputation as a musician is another thing that could hit the fan.

Last week, a New York Judge denied an injunction for Kesha to halt her music recordings with Sony during her upcoming trial. Rolling Stone’s article on ten possible questions that would be answered once the trail date approaches would provide more answers into Kesha’s music career with Sony. Sony Music has stated that during these court proceedings and these oncoming months of preparation, Kesha can produce music with protege’s of Dr. Luke or with someone else entirely who works inside Sony Music. But Kesha has stated otherwise, citing that Sony might not allow her to produce with another production artist through Sony and have her continue with Dr. Luke. But these statements are some of the few questions that would be answered following the trails that will begin in May of this year.

Kesha has been grateful for the support from her fans using the hashtag #FreeKesha and from fellow musicians Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, and Taylor Swift. who have spoken out on Kesha’s behalf following the lawsuit charges and upcoming court battle.
