The lineup for the annual musical festival Sweetlife has been announced by salad chain Sweetgreen, and some big names are in there, including Grimes, Eagles of Death Metal, and Diiv. The festival will take place on May 4th at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. The 1975 and Halsey are also included on the list.
Grimes is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Vancouver who has been involved in underground music since college. She is most known for her unique vocal elements and her diverse genres of music, such as electronica, pop, R&B, and even medieval music. She also creates the album art for her albums. So far, she has four studio albums out. Her latest one, Art Angels, was released last November and was her highest charting album of all time. This spring, she’ll be going on tour with Florence + the Machine for a few shows.
American rock band Eagles of Death Metal will also be making an appearance at Sweetlife this year. They’ve been rocking out since 1998 with four studio albums as a result. Their latest one, Zipper Down, was released last October and received fairly positive reviews. The band is teaming up with Death From Above 1979 for a tour this spring, a nine-date Canadian tour. Recently, frontman Jesse Hughes has been taking a stance against gun control, stating that he believes everyone should have guns.
Diiv, another American rock band, are a fairly recent band that formed in 2011 in Brooklyn, NY. Their debut full-length album Oshin was released in 2012, self-produced by Zachary Cole Smith, who was primarily a recording artist at the time but now is the vocalist and guitarist for Diiv. Just a few weeks ago, the band released their second studio album Is the Is Are, also self-produced by Smith. Check out a review of the new album here.
