The Staves, featuring three sisters Emily (vocals), Jessica (vocals/guitar), and Camilla Staveley-Taylor have just released a new video for their song Horizons.
The Staves’ new music video features clips from last year’s Eaux Claires festival, started by Vernon himself in his hometown of Eau Claire. They plan on returning this year with the classical ensemble yMusic says Stereogum.
Originally from Watford, Hertfordshire, England the trio of sisters first got together in 2010 when the youngest sister was only 14 years old. They began singing at open mic nights at a local pub, calling themselves the horns until a friend signed them up on an open mic night roster under the Staves and it stuck. They are most well known for their harmonization and tend to build around that skill set with instrumentation. Read about and hear more of their past music here and here.
The three sisters have recently been collaborating with Bon Ivers‘ Justin Vernon contributing to his plans to reverse hibernation, as he has decided to no longer “wind down” in his music career and starts to get more serious about making projects again. Watch a video of a past co-performance here. Both bands have helped each other with their music over the years and Justin has invited them to record their music in his private cabin studio in rural Wisconsin.
