Where do I begin with a band as epic as The Brian Jonestown Massacre? First off, they’re based in San Francisco, the best city in the universe. Secondly, they have 14 albums, and they’re still making music. The history of this band is not an easy one to follow considering there have been 40 members rotating throughout the Brian Jonestown Massacre. The current band is a six-piece consisting of tambourine, guitar, bass, drums, organ, and keyboard. The band began as a shoegaze group and later dabbled in psychedelic rock, electronica, and folk, what I’m trying to say is that this band is perfect for any music lover.
Founded and lead by the turbulent Anton Newcombe, Brian Jonestown Massacre continues to be a relevant band 20 years later.Other prominent members include Matt Hollywood, Dean Taylor, Jeff Davies, Brian Glaze, and Joel Gion. These old school rockers still have the musical blood in their veins and continue to rock out year after year and release album after album. Don’t miss one of their two-night sets at the Independent.
