Chemical Brothers, Major Lazer, and Ice Cube will be the headlines for Parklife’s festival this year. This is the seventh year that Parklife’s festival will be taking place. It will be at Heaton Park in Manchester, June 11-12.

The Chemical Brothers are actually from Manchester, so this festival will be a homecoming for them. Playing since 1989, the British electronic music band played a huge role in bringing the big beat genre to pop culture. They’ve released eight studio albums in the span of their career – their most recent one, Born in the Echoes, was released last July, and it was their first studio album since Further, released in 2010. A couple weeks ago, the band released the video for their single “Wide Open”, featuring vocals from Beck, and a unique theme of cyborgs. The single is from Born in the Echoes.

Major Lazer is populating all sorts of festivals this year, including the WayHome Music & Arts Festival, they announced recently. The electronic music group have been making music together since 2009, but they’ve gained a lot of attention after their international hit single “Lean On”, a collaboration with DJ Snake that features vocals from Danish recording artist MØ. Last year, they released their third studio album Peace Is the Mission which includes “Lean On.” The group also announced that they are working on a new album called Music Is the Weapon, though a release date has not yet been announced.

American rapper Ice Cube has been busy, also contributing to the art world as a recorder producer, actor, and filmmaker. He is best known for his skilled lyrics and blatantly honest rapping, often with a tone of political or socio-political themes. He is also considered one of the founders of gangsta rap. He has been active in the music industry since 1986, with a whopping total of ten studio albums under his belt. Ice Cube has released a few singles off his upcoming album Everythang’s Corrupt, which was supposed to be released awhile ago, but the release date has been delayed. In the meantime, he kept himself busy producing the film Straight Outta Compton (2015) about the hip hop group N.W.A, of which he was a part.
