Indie duo Rogue Wave is continuing to churn out music, this time with the promise of a new album. The band warmed us up in December with “Christmas For the Jews,” pining away about the predicament of being a Jew during Santa season. With their festive quandary out of the way, the indie-pop act has announced the completion of their sixth album. Titled Delusions of Grand Fur – perhaps referring to a quixotic portrait of the indie-rockstar lifestyle the band once envisaged – the LP is expected to be released April 29 via Easy Sound and is the band’s first commitment to full album since 2013’s Nightingale Floors.
In a soundscape unfamiliar to the band, the album’s first single, “What Is Left To Solve” explores themes of resigned disillusionment with a relationship plagued with mistrust. Reminiscent of The Cure’s Disintegration days, the band uses synths and low-fi sonics to build a dark, slow-burning confrontation, drawing the listener in as it continues to intensify towards a suspenseful finish. The single has been released in audio and video format and can be heard below. According to Brooklyn Vegan, Rogue Wave is further supporting the album with a U.S. tour kicking off in May and continuing into June. Check out the itinerary for all dates.
