Parquet Courts Announce New Album On Fordham University Radio Station

At Fordham University’s radio station WFUV this week, Parquet Courts announced their new album and played two new songs, “Dust” and “Outside.” The new album is expected sometime this spring, and the name of the album has not yet been confirmed.

Formed in 2010, the American rock band originating from NYC have released four studio albums and two EPs. Their most recent album, Monastic Living, was released this past November and is a mostly instrumental EP that contains a lot of experimental recordings. Find a great review of it here.

Parquet Courts’ debut album, American Specialities, was released in 2011 as a limited cassette release. A vinyl version of the album was later released in 2012. The band released the album on cassette in the hopes that people would pay more attention to the music they were listening to. This marked the unique style of the band.

The band’s third studio album, Sunbathing Animal, was released in 2014 and reached #55 on the Billboard U.S. chart. Many of the songs were written while the band was on tour to promote their previous album Light Up Gold. Their unique sound is prominent in Sunbathing Animal – to hear more, check out a detailed review of it here.

Parquet Courts occasionally goes by the alternative name Parkay Quarts. After the release of Sunbathing Animal, the band released the single “Uncast Shadow of a Southern Myth” as their new name Parkay Quarts. This led to the band releasing their LP Content Nausea shortly after in 2014. However, bass player Sean Yeaton and drummer Max Savage were not a part of this album due to other commitments.
