The Chemical Brothers’ fascination with cyborgs continues. The British electronic duo has released a video for their latest single “Wide Open,” featuring Beck on vocals. The track can be found on the pair’s 2015 album Born in the Echoes.
Set in an empty warehouse, the song’s video features a dancer performing while simultaneously morphing into a skeletal mesh creature. According to The Verge, the effect was created through the design of 107 individual anatomic rigs used to breathe life into a CG model.
Fair warning, this video is not for our typrophobic fans.
Throughout the video, we see the exteriors of this dancer fade, leaving an odd skeleton and a beating heart. While the visuals may be unsettling to the faint-at-heart, they ultimately create an enthralling interpretation of the track, beautifully portraying the themes of openness and vulnerability explored throughout the song.
The Chemical Brothers are not new to collaboration. In the past 12 months, the experimental twosome has teamed up with Q-Tip, St. Vincent, Ali Love, and Beck for music and video releases.
