Tame Impala @ The Greek Theater 9/2

Where do I even begin with Tame Impala’s most recent release Currents? This masterpiece reached the Billboard 200 at the #2 spot, received a 9.3/10 from Pitchfork, and earned a 2016 Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album. The praise is almost endless and certainly well deserved. Tame Impala says fresh three albums into their career releasing hit after hit such as Solitude is Bliss, Elephant, and Let It Happen. Calling Kevin Parker the lead singer of Tame Impala is an understatement. He is the genius behind the whole band. Parker produced, engineered, mixed, wrote, sang, and played various instruments Currents. And no, this is not new of Kevin Parker to be creating all the elements behind the album. He’s been the mastermind of Tame Impala since it’s birth. Parker’s likeness is similar to Jesus’. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Kevin Parker is the second coming.

Though Currents is a breakup album and the lyrics are depressing, the album makes you want to keep listening again and again. The lyrics from the sob-worthy piece Eventually echo from Kevin Parker’s voice. Wish I could turn you back into a stranger. Cause If I was never in your life. You wouldn’t have to change this. I’ve cried to the album without a doubt. You can feel the heartbreak of the album as if a breakup were happening to you. Kevin Parker is quite the storyteller and can morph the listener’s emotions.

I can’t wait for Kevin Parker’s acceptance speech at the Grammy’s. I bet you Currents will win. Mark my words on this. You better get tickets to Tame Impala at the beautiful Greek Theater in Berkeley before they sell out. This will be a night filled with psychedelic sights and sounds and will be one for the books.
