WATCH: Megadeth Release New Video For “Dystopia”

Yesterday Megadeth dropped their new album Dystopia, a concept that carries throughout the anti-establishment tracks that send the message, “Doom is coming.” They released a virtual reality music video for “Dystopia,” in which a skeleton gets caught in a high speed car chase among gratuitous blood spurts and masked gunmen.

The story is a continuation of the thrash metal band’s video, “The Threat is Real,” where a violent post-apocalypse is at hand. As their 15th studio album, Dystopia comes with a total of five virtual reality videos. The 13 tracks all have an ominous theme with titles such as “Fatal Illusion,” “Post-American World,” “Bullet to the Brain” and “Poisonous Shadows.”

Megadeth’s frontman, Dave Mustaine, who produced Dystopia with Chris Rakestraw, explained the message to Mashable: “ You see all these movies like Armageddon, Independence Day, 12 Monkeys, Planet of the Apes and stuff, and there’s always a moral at the end of the story: If you stand up for what’s right, you won’t have to give in to a dystopian world.”
