Peter Hook & The Light Announce Fall 2016 Tour Dates And Will Play The Compilation Substance In It’s Entirety

Legendary bassist, Peter Hook and his band The Light just laid plans to tour North America this coming Fall.  Hook and his crew will perform both Joy Division and New Order‘s renowned Substance compilations from the legendary Factory Records.

Touted for his back-catalog, Hook will open the first leg of the tour in New York City’s own Webster Hall with a 2-evening-stand September 22 and 23.  Immediately following the New York shows, Hook and the Light will appear at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA on September 24.

After a brief month-long break, Hooky will then take his ragtag gang of misfits back on the road to grace Detroit’s Saint Andrew’s Hall with his message of sonic-splendor.  The final-leg of the tour will breach the finest venues in the land, hitting: Chicago, IL on October 28, San Francisco on November 5, and even Austin, Texas’s The Tomahawk to flesh-out a well-oiled machine suited to charm the post-punk demigods of favor.  The tour will then wrap-up in Toronto, ON on November 29.

Originally intended as a viable method for Factory Records boss, Tony Wilson, to play the New Order singles on the CD player of his brand-new Jaguar-vehicle, Substance was soon released in 1987 and instantly became the best-selling New Order album ever.  The double-album went-on to sell over 2-million units in the United States alone.

BBC Music issues the dynamic-impact of Substance:

“Although the group enjoyed many great moments after this point, Substance should still be their time capsule release.  Almost taken for granted, the way New Order brought the underground dance sounds of the US to the indie mainstream could well make them one of the most significant groups ever.”
