Pickathon is coming this summer during August 6-7 at Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley, Oregon. Pickathon aims for community values, encouraging a family-friendly scene without crowds or sponsor signs to create an artistic festival ground. Pickathon is also known for its fine dining options, recruiting the best local food and drink vendors. It is also the only large musical festival to eliminate plastic and minimize single-use items. The festival will feature six different stages and several different artists, including Jeff Tweedy, Yo La Tengo, and Beach House.
Jeff Tweedy, leader of the American alternative rock band Wilco, has performed several solo tours playing acoustic music. He has danced around with many other projects, including several collaborations with various artists. He also recently announced that he is working on a memoir about his experiences throughout his journey with music. As of now, the memoir does not have a title or a release date, but Tweedy has a very intriguing backstory, so the autobiography is sure to be good.
American indie rock band Yo La Tengo has been busy on tour recently. After finishing their Fall 2015 tour, the band almost immediately jumped to their Winter 2016 tour, which will end in March. Their new tour is to promote their latest album, Stuff Like That There, their fourteenth full-length studio album. The album consists of a mix of cover songs, versions of the band’s previous songs, and brand new originals.
Beach House have also been on tour this past fall to promote their latest album Depression Cherry (find great review of it here), released back in May 2015. The band also released a new album in October of last year called Thank Your Lucky Stars, just months after releasing Depression Cherry. While on tour, Beach House also covered Weezer’s song “Undone (The Sweater Song).” Check out the video here.
