Neo-psychedelic favorites Animal Collective have premiered the music video for their new single “FloriDada.” The track comes from their forthcoming new album, Painting With, to be released on Feb. 19. The trippy new video was produced and directed by PFFR, a production company and electronic-rock group who have worked on multiple Adult Swim shows.
The video starts with an epilepsy trigger warning, setting the tone for the colorful and relentless visual feast that bombards the viewer. The fun and fast paced psychedelic visuals go hand and hand with the playful vocal harmonies of Animal Collective’s three featured members. “FloriDada” features the band at their most energetic, showcasing the vibrant and springy style they often employ for their experimental songs.
Animal Collective are known for rotating their roster as band members participate in other projects or work on their solo releases. Three of the band’s four core members participated in the production of Painting With, including Panda Bear, Avey Tare and Geologist. The new album is the collective’s first studio release since 2012’s Centipede Hz, and they have already announced the dates for their upcoming tour.
The video had its television debut on Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block last night. Check it out below:
