The Offspring Sell Their Back Catalog To Round Hill Music

The Offspring has just sold their entire collection of remastered works to Round Hill Music for an estimated price of $35 million dollars, according to Billboard.

The pop-punk band that emerged in the 80s to take over radio play in the 90s with hits such as “Come Out and Play”, “Gone Away”, and “Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)”, have had much success in the music world, both inside and outside of the music industry. Fans of the band remained dedicated and loyal through the span of the bands career. Whether you loved The Offspring or hated them, you knew who they were, and were for some reason always familiar with the name Dexter Holland. Now the guys who emerged form Southern California to make a name for themselves in music, have finally recieved some recognition for those hits, in the sense of monitary gain.

According to Billboard, the details of the deal are unknown, but there are certain things known for sure. ” $35 million for the catalog, which includes its Columbia Records master recording catalog and the band’s music publishing covering its entire career, including its time on Epitaph, which retains the ownership to those albums.” (via Billboard).

The deal seemed to have been a win for both parties. Where The Offspring’s catalog was had a gross profit of $3.1 million, Round Hill paid multiple times over that amount to aquire that catalog.

Round Hill had this to say about the deal:

“We have some masters like the Bush catalog and records from developing artists like London Souls and Nigel Hall, but we wanted more exposure and you won’t get a more high-quality catalog than The Offspring,” says Round Hill Music chairman/CEO Josh Gruss. “Also, we didn’t have some American punk rock in our publishing portfolio, and this acquisitions helps broaden the genre representation.”

Dexter Holland, the band’s singer and guitarist had this to say following the deal with Round Hill:

“Round Hill understands that we are continuing to perform and record and that the visibility of our past is critical to our future.”

According to Consequence of Sound, the deal is the biggest for Round Hill is the biggest to date for the publishing company.
