Kanye West has just released a new song off of his forthcoming album SWISH.
While everyone was busy watching the ball drop this year, Kanye West was dropping something he and fans will argue is bigger than anything else. West dropped new track titled “FACTS,” and it was produced by Metro Boomin and Southside, according to Pitchfork. This release is meant to mirror his 2014 release, “Only One,” that was also meant to send the year off in West-induced bang. The new track can be streamed via his SoundCloud here.
If you are a fan of Kanye than you are no stranger to a good rant and that is exactly what FACTS is. With the song’s theme seeming to be West’s hate for Nike. The beef between him and Nike comes from his departure from the company due to dispute over royalties for merchandise. West has since been allied with Adidas and has just released a new line of men’s and women’s apparel that includes plenty of footwear. With lyrics like, “If Nike ain’t have Drizzy, man they wouldn’t have nothin’, woo!///If Nike ain’t have Don C, man they wouldn’t have nothin’, ooh!///But I’m all for the family, tell ’em, “Get your money”///Yeezy, Yeezy, Yeezy, they line up for days///Nike out here bad, they can’t give shit away,” the hate he has for Nike is evident. With other pop culture references, such as Steve Harvey saying the wrong name, the track is very entertaining and definitely screams Kanye West.
“FACTS” is one of the few new songs that have been seen from West in 2015, with the most main stream release being “FourFiveSeconds,” the collaboration with Rihanna and Paul McCartney. The other releases of 2015 were “All Day,” “Wolves,” a new version of 2008’s “Say You Will,” and a creative spin of the Weeknd’s “Tell Your Friends.” With no official announcement as to when SWISH will see its release, fans will have to settle with a binge of this new years treat. The can also take solace in one important message from the artist’s new track, “I stuck to my roots, I’m like Jimmy Fallon///I ain’t dropped the album but the shoes went platinum (Woo!)”
