Earlier on Sunday El-P, half of the duo that makes up Run the Jewels, shared a short clip of audio on Instagram with the caption “RTJ3 is just getting started”- assuming the clip is from what will be their new album, Run The Jewels 3. The album would follow up Run the Jewels and Run the Jewels 2.
Run the Jewels is fairly fresh in the game considering they formed in 2013. El-P is a New York based rapper-producer and Killer Mike is an Atlanta native. Since forming they have released 2 killer albums within a year of each other.
The clip features a dark studio with a percussion beat blaring out of the speakers. El-P last previewed the record in May, at a high point of Run the Jewels’ 2015 tour. According to Spin, El-P added on Twitter that he’s ” a subscriber to the ‘make the record great no matter how long it takes’ philosophy.” The first two records Run the Jewels put out were highly acclaimed and certifiably great. Both were also put out within a year of one another, so let’s hope the duo can churn out an equally as good follow-up by the end of 2016.
