Lying in a field with your significant other by your side on a warm, Sunday afternoon. What does the essence of that moment sound like? Well, I think a band like Dr. Dog is quite fitting with their nostalgic feel and lo-fi, indie vibes. Inspired by 1960s artists such as the Beatles and The Beach Boys and a more recent act, Pavement. Dr. Dog can be described as an indie version of the Black Keys. And who doesn’t love the Black Keys?
Dr. Dog has been on busy in 2015, planning to release two new albums in the following year. One being the new offical release of their debt cassette, 35-track album, Psychedelic Swamp. September was an exciting month for the band, putting on a theater/concert spectatcular titled Swamp Is On for four nights in Dr. Dog’s city of origin, Philadelphia. Swamp Is On sold out all four nights and included 30+ cast and crew members from the experiemental theater company Pig Iron. The band played unreleased songs and left the crowd in awe. Dr. Dog embodies the inspriational DIY attitude.
Expect old and new to be played on their upcoming tour while they promote for these records. To take a break from recording music, Dr. Dog’s will tour across the United States from late January to mid-March. Over 15 years since the bands formation and eight albums to choose from, you can’t go wrong with Dr. Dog. Come early and stay late on this fabulous Saturday night with openers Hop Along.
