Experimental guitarist and Sunn O))) member Stephen O’Malley has released new double LP of live recordings by the name of Fuck Fundamentalist Pigs. O’Malley, who has been residing in Paris for the past eight years, originally planned to release the album in early 2016, but changed his plans following the November Paris Attacks.
The new album was supposed to be part of an upcoming trilogy of live recordings to be released next year, but O’Malley hoped that the songs on his record could offer “a small sense of solace” for the “few hundred who hear them.” Fans can read O’Malley’s full statement here.
Like his earlier releases, the material on Fuck Fundamentalist Pigs showcases O’Malley’s immersive and droning guitar work, simultaneously evoking feelings of brooding paranoia and refreshing catharsis.
Sunn O)))’s latest record, Kannon, was released just a few weeks ago.
The limited release will be available on Vinyl only, with 700 hand-numbered copies being produced. All profits from Fuck Fundamentalist Pigs will be donated to the French Red Cross.
