The figure in hip-hop greatness that is referred to as Aesop Rock, will be doing the score for the new film, Bushwick.
Bushwick, is a film that is co-directed by Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott. According to Pitchfork, the film is about a girl and a war veteran who together who will overcome many battles in order to in the end, be reunited with Lucy’s grandmother.

Bushwick tells the story of twenty-year-old Lucy (Snow) and war veteran Stupe (Bautista). Texas is trying to secede from the U.S., and NYC is being used as a negotiation tool. Lucy meets Stupe after coming up from the subway into the military invasion of Brooklyn. Together they decide to cross the treacherous five blocks of Bushwick – littered with looters, local militias, the invading forces, and one crazy cousin – in order to get home and be reunited with Lucy’s grandmother.
The unique, and talented Aesop Rock, has made a name for himself in hip-hop by combining his quick-lyriced nature with dope beats, while bringing a style to the music game belonging to a specific few, if not all his own. It seems that lending his musical talents to this film, which seems to have a fast-paced and exciting storyline, is a perfect fit for the musical-mastermind.

We are beyond excited to have this chance to work with Aesop Rock! We’ve been fans of his since his seminal EP Appleseed. Labor Days is one of our all time favorite records. Bazooka Tooth, None Shall Pass and Skelethon are each such special records, and we listened to the instrumental of “Bestiary” (from his Hail Mary Mallon project) on repeat while we prepped for shooting Bushwick. Aesop keeps on blowing us away with his profound lyrics and music he composes for each new record, which is why when we were thinking of someone to score Bushwick we immediately thought of him.
