Animal Collective @ the Fox Theater 3/7

Ever wonder what drugs would sound like if they could make music? Meet Animal Collective, an experimental, neo-psychedelic, pop band whose sound I can’t put into words while doing the band justice. With a discography spanning nine albums, seven EPs, and three live albums long, and a new album on the way, you can’t go wrong with Animal Collective.

Animal Collective was founded in 1999 by Noah Lennox, also known as Panda Bear and David Portner, also known as Avey Tare. Both Lennox and Portner have been the only members with the band all these years and have taken on successful side projects. Animal Collective finally achieved their well deserved big break in 2009 with their hit release Merriweather Post Pavilion. The band obtained an almost unheard of 9.6/10 by Pitchfork giving Animal Collective the media attention they rightfully earned.

Animal Collective will tour to promote their upcoming album, Painting With and from what I can tell, music fans everywhere are stoked for the new record. Animal Collective’s first single, FloriDada, off the new album mixes a funky pop song with an acid trip and I can’t wait to hear more from Animal Collective. Keep your eyes peeled for Painting With coming on February 19th, 2016. Don’t miss out on your chance to see Animal Collective perform over 15 years of music.
