Get Ready! The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be celebrating 31 years in giving recognition to artists who have made a mark in the music industry in one capacity or another.
The highly-anticipated event will take place in Brooklyn, New York for the second time in the events history, according to the press release, and will take place at Barclays Center.
Being inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is an event that is held in the highest regard in terms of honor, praise, and recognition for a particular artist or groups catalog of work. To recive an induction means being recognized in positivity. Artists become eligible for inductee status 25 years after they have released their fheir first recording. The way in which bands are decided is up to over 800 voters who belong to the foundaton belonging to the hall of fame. A fan vote that is taken online also plays a big role in deciding who will be chosen.
This year, two of the five inductees are the lovable Cheap Trick, and the hard-hitting, fellow pioneers of gangster rap, N.W.A.
With the release of N.W.A.’s biographc film, Straight Outta Compton, in 2015, one can’t help but wonder if the film may have had an awakened impact on the rap group’s induction into the event. A very well-deserved incduction, seeing as how the influence inspired byt the group’s music has spanned a long period of time and has been felt in varies areas of pop-culture. Bravo N.W.A.
Every year when the inductees are announced, there is bit of uproar over what artists did not gain an induction. Among the likes of musical GREATS nominated were The Smiths and Nine Inch Nails. These are two bands whose name have come up many times rearding their delayed incduction. With both The Smiths and Nine Inch Nails being completely influencial to countless bands, and holding a music catalogs that has inspired millions, the upset over their not being inducted thus far is completely vaild. Then again, that’s the way it goes. Greatness gets overlooked to be repleced with other greatness.
HBO will be broadcasting the event, and it is due to air in the spring of 2016, according to the press release.
