Rapper and president of G.O.O.D. Music Pusha T previously announced his album, King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude, and now he has released a short film to go with it, entitled Darkest Before Dawn. The album will be out December 18.
The Kid Art-directed short film has a run time of about 22 minutes and can be streamed in full on Tidal, according to Noisey. The trailer for the film, which you can watch below, implies that the film tackles dark themes. There is a voice-over, presumably that of a priest, that says things like “you mustn’t become a victim to the darkness,” followed by Pusha T himself saying “there’s a war, Father.” There seems to be a lot of religious imagery, cut with visuals of shiny gold guns, stacks of money and SUVs driving through the streets.
Pusha T announced that his album contains collaborative efforts with producers like Kanye West, Timbaland and Hudson Mohawke, among others. In addition, the album will feature Kanye West, ASAP Rocky, Jill Scott and more on some of the songs, according to Consequence of Sound. The full track list including featured artists, as well as the album cover art, is included below.
He has already released a music video for the track “Untouchable”, which features the rapper hanging out in New York City. More recently, Pusha T released new single called “Crutches, Crosses, Caskets,” which Consequence of Sound describes as a gritty track. It has been removed from Audiomack, where it was originally posted, but we will update if it becomes available again.
