The music video for “Shine” – the first track and second single off Dave Gahan and Soulsavers’ Angels & Ghosts – was released on VEVO this week. “Shine” features a woman in white and Dave Gahan in a hallway dimly lit by hanging bulbs (hence “Shine”), as well as scenes outside of a pickup basketball game and couple sitting on a bench. Check out the video below:
Angels & Ghosts is the second collaboration from Gahan (of Depeche Mode) and Soulsavers, following 2012’s The Light the Dead See; Soulsavers’ previous album collaborator was Mike Lanagen of Screaming Trees and Queens of the Stone Age, who was featured on their album Broken. The duo announced the new album and fall tour dates back in September, before releasing trailer for the record a month later. Gahan and Soulsavers performed “Shine” on Jimmy Kimmel Live in November; the music video’s press release stated that Gahan’s inspiration for the song came during a live show “[He] felt like [he] had all the power [he] wanted. All the energy [he] needed. It was one of those nights.”
The press release also wrote, “The new video also captures the optimistic tone of the song, reflecting the vibrant culture of New York City where Gahan has made his home for the past two decades. ‘New York was the first place I’d ever been to where I felt like I belonged,’ he says. The video was directed by James Rogers -Gahan, and features model Rebekah Underhill.”
