Florida Metal Fest Announces Inaugural 2016 Lineup Featuring Obituary, Corrosion of Conformity And Deicide

Get ready, metal-heads!! The first annual Florida Metal Fest will make its debut in January of 2016 in Tampa. The festival will feature well-known acts such as Obituary, Corrosion of Conformity and Deicide.

The metal-fronted festival will bring along with it many artists from the festivals homebase of Florida such as Obituary, Deicide and Athiest. There are many great bands playing that are both crowd favorites, as well as favorites among festival organizers, John and Donald Tardy of the very popular band, Obituary. Some of the names that will be shaking the walls of this tour are Corrosion of Conformity, Trouble and Madball.

The festival’s openers will be two winners from the two different Battle of the Bands contests. The first contest has already taken place and that prize goes to Untoten Kreig. The second band to open the fest will be decided when the second battle takes place in December, according to the press release.

The two brothers seem very pleased to be taking on a project that not only embraces their love for music in its heavist form, but also to be keeping it local, and who better to put together a festival that indulges in extrememly heavy music then these two brothers?

Here is what John Tardy had to say about the passion project:

“My brother and I have been so fortunate and thankful to be part of some the best and biggest music festivals in the world. The amount of people, bands and energy these festivals can bring is just awesome. From the first time we played one, it has always been a dream of ours to put together a music festival that is not only fun for the fans, bands and crews, but one that also brings a closeness to all involved. After years and years of talking about it, we finally decided the time is now. We want to put together a first class festival. From the venue to the PA, from the lights to the lineup we are trying our best to make this as memorable event as possible. No festival, anywhere in the world, even with the best possible lineup, would work if the area does not support it. I think that Tampa, and its surrounding cities, is a great music area and one that is ready to make this event come to life.”

The festival is scheduled to take place January 30, 2016 at The Cuban Club in Tampa.
