Duran Duran released their 14th studio album, Paper Gods, back in September that featured acts like Mr. Hudson, Kiesza, Janelle Monáe and Nile Rodgers. This week, the group announced dates and cities for The Paper Gods Tour, which begins at the end of March in Durham, NC and ends in August in Glendale, AZ.
Most shows will be accompanied by CHIC with Nile Rodgers, who helped produce Paper Gods. The press release stated that every ticket for Duran Duran’s 2016 tour purchased online will also receive a physical copy of the album. Fan club members could start purchasing VIP packages starting Wednesday, December 9, on the group’s website, while Citi cardholders have access to a pre-sale starting December 10. Tickets for the general public will go on sale on Saturday, December 12 on Live Nation.
The Guardian’s review of Duran Duran’s most recent show in Leeds stated:
…everything that is wonderful about pop music seems to occupy the triumphant final half hour, as a sea of blondes, brunettes and husbands come together to bellow ‘Planet Earth,’ ‘Girls on Film,’ ‘Rio,’ and the rest. Every arm is raised skyward in a giant communal bonding, an audiovisual illustration of Le Bon’s insistence that ‘music is a healing force.’
