The Weeknd is finishing up his Madness Tour, but not without releasing a music video first. The Weeknd’s music video for “In The Night.” The video was directed by duo BRTHR and stars supermodel Bella Hadid shot in the nighttime curiousity of Brookyn, New York.
The video follows different cinematic themes such as noir or even something more sultry. The music provides the source of alternative R&B visionaries that The Weeknd often tries to undertake through his songs. And it is in this cinematic video that The Weeknd performs his finest about the secrets in the shadows of the city that never sleeps. There are guns, parties, sunsets over the water, Bond-analogs of tuxedos and even the glimpse of the alluring Bella Hadid. Even though the video goes from black and white to color, the loss is non-existent in the pieces and abstracts of cinematic references to things of the past. In fact with the drinking and gun display to the camera, it is almost like The Weeknd is trying to display the underlying aspects of New York. It shows a young Asian man in a tux by the boat rails, the water is pulsing by as if there is a suspicion of murder or even worse, cold blooded revenge. If anything, it pans out like a piece from a murder-mystery thriller movie that is yet to exist in the modern notion of future movies that will hit theaters. Don’t believe me then check out the video below.
