Fire Destroyed Lee “Scratch” Perry’s Secret Laboratory Studio

Lee “Scratch” Perry revealed that his secret laboratory studio in Switzerland was destroyed in a fire yesterday. The producer left a candle burning and the room was set ablaze. The accident destroyed many of Perry’s items like his famous stage costume, the “magic hats”, expensive studio equipment, and several personal possessions.

Lee Perry is a Jamaican producer known for his unique studio techniques and values. Perry was one of the early innovators of dub style music creating new instrumentals and vocal arrangements from existing reggae tracks.

Perry’s studio is often times referred to as the Blue Ark. He posted to Facebook telling his fans, “I forgot to out a candle and my whole Secret Laboratory burned out…Everything gone!!!! I am so sad and my wife is so mad.” He added: “My whole life collections, arts, my magic hats, my magic boots, ally my crazy show outfits and costumes: King Pope, General, Magician…All my electronics and studio equipment and my magic mic, books, musik, CDs…”
