Cult Records presents, “a tune brought to you by the girl from Savages and the dude from the Strokes/Voidz… a cover of Sort Sol & Lydia Lunch)!”
Julian Casablancas and Jehnny Beth recently announced they would be collaborating soon on a new song. Today, the two released a cover of the Sort Sol/Lydia Lunch song “Boy/Girl”. The music video was directed by Warren Fu.
Casablancas is the lead vocalist for The Strokes. In addition, Casablancas has led a successful solo career during the band’s hiatus where he released the album Phrazes For The Young.
Beth is the lead singer from the band Savages, a post-punk band from London formed in 2011. Beth’s real name is Camille Berthomier; she was previously part of the French indie rock duo John & Jehn.
Casablancas says, “I had never heard the song before and still have no idea what the hell the words are talking about. It sounds like a Danish dude trying sound like he’s saying English sounding words.”
Jehnny Beth added, “Sort Sol are cult in Denmark, and today very influential in the Copenhagen scene (Iceage etc…). I would be pleased to make their name known better.”
