After experimenting with a new electronic sound with the release of ‘Push The Button’ and recently covering “With Or Without You” By U2 And “It’s A Fire” By Portishead, rock singer-songwriter Amy Lee has added another powerful interpretation to the intimate covers series on her Youtube channel. The co-founder and lead singer of the Grammy-winning band Evanescence recently unveiled her rendition of “Going to California”, praising the song as “a classic that I’ve loved for as long as I can remember. It puts me at peace.”
In a Facebook post, Lee expressed that after listening to the instrumentals friend and manger Jordan Berliant recorded “for fun”, she was “instantly” inspired to cover the piece. She added that the Zeppelin IV classic developed into an essential in her home, soothingly helping her son fall asleep: “Listening to mommy sing usually helps get Jack into that elusive sleepy place, and this song has been a regular rotation nap-time hit around our house this fall.”
After a three-year hiatus, Evanescence resurfaced with intimate, live performances in Nashville, Dallas, and Los Angeles. According to Blabbermouth, Lee performed “Going to California” with Evanescence during their live dates last month, and she wrote:
It’s a pleasure to sing a song publicly that is such a part of who I am offstage — my roots, the style of music that we always played around my house when I was growing up, and still at every big family gathering, singing and playing music with my dad
