Sporting her best Isabella Rossellini from a clear-nod to the David Lynch classic, Blue Velvet, indie-crooner, Speedy Ortiz further boosts the magnanimous-impression of her sophomore effort, Foil Deer with the unveiling of: “My Dead Girl.”
Speedy Ortiz, having first originated as the solo-project of lead-singer, Sadie Dupuis, penned the song: “My Dead Girl” while she once felt physically-threatened by the knocks of a few ominous men on her car window. Dupuis revealed her feelings of shock when confronted on the basis of her lonely stance in a vehicle on an empty road during the Fourth of July.
Poised on the premise of the darker side of ambiguity, the video follows the performance of Sadie and her band in Twin Peaks’ infamous One Eyed Jacks casino. Considering the ghost of David Lynch still at the stylistic-reigns of imagination, “My Dead Girl” revels in the avant garde of obscurity.
Following in the footsteps of both: the horror-bash, “Raising The Skate” and euphoric-romp, “Swell Content,” this latest video, as guided by the skilled-hand of director: Elle Schneider paints a torrid narrative of Lynchian-proportions, coupled by puppet-characters in exposition.
