The heavy metal band Baroness recently launched their 2015 fall tour. According to Stereogum, the band’s performance at Ace Of Cups in Columbus was ‘triumphant’, with aggressive blasts of progressive metal from their latest album, Purple.
The anticipated album follows 2012’s Yellow and Green, featuring Sebastien Thomson as the new drummer and Nick Jost as the new bassist and keyboardist. Band members Matt Maggioni and Allen Blickle left Baroness after their tour bus fell off a viaduct in the U.K. The thirty foot fall and crush left both with fractured vertebrae and nine total with serious injuries. But Baroness is relentless. After releasing the emotional single “Chlorine & Wine” and following the track with a visually stunning music video for the swiftly intense “Shock Me” comes Purple, described as “cathartic and brilliantly crafted” by Rolling Stone. The fourth studio album is available December 18th.
