Franco-Finnish duo The Dø released a music video for their song, “Trustful Hands.” The song, itself, is taken from Shake Shook Shaken, the third album by the duo – comprised of Olivia Merilahti and Dan Levy.
Shake Shook Shaken was released on the 27th of January 2015 in the States, via Siamese Squids, the band’s own label. And, to date, the album has been receiving exceptional praise around the world.
Shake Shook Shaken was nominated for an MTV European Music Awards Nomination in the category of Best French Band, according to a press release. And, it was also nominated in the category of “Best Rock Album of the Year” at Les Victoires de la Musique, where Shake Shook Shaken went on to take home the top prize. The music video for “Trustful Hands” was filmed on The Dø’s tour, earlier this year, when they gave their first ever shows in Japan, according to a press release.
Why Japan, you may ask?
Well, Merilahti and Levy have long been fascinated by Japanese culture.
“This video for ‘Trustful Hands’ is our postcard from Tokyo,” Olivia Merilahti said in a press release. “We wanted images that would be faithful to our life on tour. Chaos is our second home, but the road is our main address, for a few more months ahead!”
In keeping with the theme of chaos and the road, this latest music video follows Merilahti and Levy as they dance and lay on the ground in a busy part of Tokyo. Their unique display attracts some strange looks from people passing by; however, the duo remains unfazed, and seems to welcome the chance to engage with their diverse audience, even if that means they must be lying in the middle of a Tokyo crosswalk. But, it isn’t all a postcard view of Japan’s capital city, as Merilahti and Levy have intercut that footage with videos of clouds and a clip that appears to be a home-video of Merilahti singing Mariah Carey at karaoke, according the article that accompanied the video’s premiere on Stereogum, complete with the words scrolling across the screen in pink letters that glow when sung.
