Art pop artist Julia Holter has released a video for the track “Silhouette” and will be hitting the road for a string of North American tour dates this winter.
Thematically, the video makes use of light and dark visuals in a domestic setting. It isn’t flashy, but it suits Holter’s tasteful, plaintive vocals, and chamber-pop-esque instrumental sound. Taking a simplistic approach, the video doesn’t try and do too much, and succeeds as a result.
Holter is coming off the release of her latest LP, Have You in My Wilderness, released in September. The album adds to a prolific body of work, highlighted by the 2012 breakout record Ekstatis. “Silhouette” was the second cut from her 2015 album to receive the video treatment, the first coming in September for the track “Sea Calls Me Home”.
Holter will also score the upcoming movie Bleed for This, produced by none other than Martin Scorsese.
It’s no surprise that some live performances follows all of this activity. Holter will be appearing for several shows on each coast, along with a lone gig in Canada. If her busy 2015 year was any indication, she appears to be an artist on the rise, and fans should be on the watch for any additional tour announcements as the summer festival circuit draws closer.
