Fresh with a new taste of brilliance to further ensue, post-punk revivalists, Savages just unveiled: “T.I.W.Y.G.” in the wake of their previous single: “The Answer.”  “T.I.W.Y.G.” arrives just in time to further the excitement surrounding the follow-up to their 2013 debut, Silence Yourself with the forthcoming-effort, Adore Life.

“This Is What You Get” or the better-associated acronym: “T.I.W.Y.G”… when you mess with love… is an anthemic tribute to a by-gone era of post-punk rebellion in the midst of oppression.  The song soars as though it easily could’ve been penned circa 1980 by the late Ian Curtis of Joy Division, given its menacing propulsion.

Lead thoroughly down the rabbit-hole by the sidewinding fuzzy guitar-strikes of Gemma Thompson and struck-a-frenzy through a ferocious drum-progression by the Savages’ own, Fay Milton, this London-based quartet makes no qualms of playing it dangerously.  Given her usual propensity to churn-out lyrical-intention toward feminist empowerment, lead-vocalist, Jehnny Beth delivers a vulnerable pathos of loss under the veil of romance.

Pitchfork Magazine boasts the new track as an astonishing feat:

“It’s a musical manifestation of the circle-pit experience: Gemma Thompson’s gnarly, gnashing riff powers the dizzying circular motion, Ayse Hassan’s full-contact basslines leave bruises, while Fay Milton’s kit-topping rhythm conjures that feeling of being constantly on the run but never quite finding your feet.”

Savages seeks to tour their new record, Adore Life, due out January 22, 2016 via Matador Records this spring, hitting the states this coming March and venturing on through April.
