Missy Elliott has been out of touch with the music business for half a decade plus of music collaborations with Ginuwine, Ciara, K. Michelle, Demi Lovato, The Black Keys, J. Cole, G-Dragon, Fantasia, Monica, Busta Rhymes, Jazmine Sullivan, and Katy Perry. Missy returned in 2014 with some music of her own and now her latest music video that includes Pharrell Williams is for her single “WTF (Where They From).” The new single and its video are available for purchase from iHeartRadio’s Urban Mainstream outlets for both purchase and streaming.
The five time Grammy Award winner with six studio albums under her belt has now come busting back with the doors wide open. The video is a hit sensation, being screened high above New York City’s Times Square tonight at 6pm EST. The video was the trending topic of Twitter and Facebook. The video was directed by Grammy Award-winning collaborator Dave Meyers. Following the collaboration with Pharrell Williams, Missy Elliott performed with Williams at the recent BET awards, along with Da Brat and Lil Kim at the Soul Train Music Awards, and sang alongside Katy Perry at the Super Bowl XLIX. Missy’s video has been cast as the official theme to ESPN’s kickoff coverage of the 2015/2016 NBA season. Following these appearances, sales for singles “Get Ur Freak On” and “Work It” caused the songs to return to the top 40 charts in the music billboards, that has not happen in over ten years following their original releases those years ago.
The girl may be hot tonight, and there is no doubt that the flame won’t burn out. Missy is on a roll and it is one high streak.
