Desaparecidos canceled over twenty tour dates after singer and guitarist Conor Oberts was hospitalized in Florida. According to a statement released on the band’s website, Oberts, who headed the garage punk project and is also the frontman of indie folk band Bright Eyes, fell ill due to laryngitis, anxiety, and exhaustion. “Regretfully, we need to cancel our Jacksonville show on 10/27. Conor has a case of laryngitis and needs to rest his voice on doctor’s orders,” Desaparecidos tweeted.
After the cancellation of the show in Jacksonville, Florida, the band was forced to cancel the remainder of their US tour dates, including their appearance at Texas’ Fun Fun Fun Fest and a benefit performance for the Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project with Tom Morello, alongside Obsert’s solo concert at Webster Hall in Ney York.
Desaparecidos’ fall tour supported the release of their new album Payola, unleashed in June after thirteen years. The album, intense and raw, was said to be politically charged, with spirited and edgy sound. After Payola’s launch, the quintet toured North America over the summer and revealed an energetic music video for “City On The Hill”.

Desaparecidos has been forced to cancel the remainder of their US tour dates. Conor Oberst fell ill while on tour in Jacksonville, Florida and was briefly hospitalized due to laryngitis, anxiety, and exhaustion. In consultation with his doctors, the band has reluctantly agreed to cancel all scheduled live dates. Conor will be heading home to Omaha to recuperate. We wish him a speedy recovery.
