Music producer native to Scotland Hudson Mohawke released a sick new video for his track “System”. Featuring some great shots of skylines that morph into some great abstract shots, it follows the well produced track great!
What’s most loveable about this video is the real sense of combining urban photography with abstract patterns. The city feel of this video is so real with some incredible skyline shots of an urban city around dusk, then taking those incredible colours and images and morphing them into unique symmetrical and constantly changing patterns. It’s got a degree of psychedelia in it, making it overall a pretty interesting sight.
According to Pitchfork, the video’s description includes a statement by the video’s director, Dominic Flannigan.
“A favourite from Lantern, with ‘System’ Hud Mo was inspired by some tear-out Jeff Mills offset with those minimalist classical arpeggios – and when considering an associated film I thought of classic rave visuals and cg stock art of the late 90s where the grid of the city would be superimposed with circuit boards and processors. Here we updated it for 2015, commissioning our own 4K helicopter shoot over Manhattan which Nic Hamilton treated, placing in a CG environment that evokes Philip Glass ’1000 Airplanes On The Roof’.”
Mohawke has been releasing tons of videos this past spring and summer, including “Warriors”, “Scud Books”, and “Very First Breath”. All of his videos take a really artistic approach in order to create a cool accompaniment to his tracks, so we love seeing how he interprets his music in a visual sense.
