The Smashing Pumpkins have released a new music video for their track “Run2Me,” from their 2014 album Monuments to an Elegy.
The Smashing Pumpkins formed in 1988 and have been releasing studio albums since 1991’s Gish, with 1995’s Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness arguably being their most well-known work. They are currently working on an ongoing project known as Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, according to vocalist Billy Corgan. This project so far encompasses 2012’s Oceania as well as the recent Monuments to an Elegy. The latter album features Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee on drums.
The last music video released by the alt-rock outfit was for “Drum + Fife.” That video featured political statement decrying the state of care for children and veterans worldwide. The new visual was premiered by Vulture, and it features imagery inspired by tarot card readings and other psychic mainstays – dark, but not nearly so much as the previous one. The synth sound of the track matches up with the array of colors used in the video, as we follow a protagonist who is under spell. Watch “Run2Me” below via Vevo.
Billy Corgan and the rest of the band had a busy summer, beginning with a string of acoustic tour dates in June. Following that, they teamed up with Marilyn Manson, traveling and performing all over North America in July and August on the End Times Tour.
