LISTEN: Natalie Prass Covers Slayer

At first, Natali Prass, one of Rolling Stone’s “Ten New Artists You Need To Know” and Time Magazine’s “15 Artists To Watch in 2015″, may not be the obvious aspirant for exploring the ‘lacerated sky’ and ‘crimson tears’ of Slayer’s “Raining Blood”. But after proving herself through the expertly executed debut released earlier this year, Prass conquers the classic with intense emotion and individuality.

Challenging herself with Slayer’s 1986 ‘Raining Blood’ for AV Club’s Undercover series seems almost effortless for the singer-songwriter after her self-titled album of soulful pop launched in January, attracting acclaim and success. The Guardian named the lush, melancholic debut “a gorgeous thing” and Consequence of Sound praised Prass’ “spectacular” music for transforming “decades of American music tradition into something relevant to the 21st century”.

Natalia Prass appeared in Consequence of Sound’s CoSigns SXSW 2015 Hype Hotel Day Party and was featured as rising talent on San Fermin’s tour. But with fifteen upcoming performances across the States, it looks like the Virginia country-soul ready to harness the power and magnificence caught in the intimacy of her music.
