After being arrested in June following some serious domestic violence charges, the drummer of famed band Journey Deen Castronovo has pleaded guilty to his charges.
He has now been sentenced to four years of probation, including attending various counselling services for both domestic violence and drug abuse. If he violates his probation, he’s sentenced to five years of prison.
According to NME, Journey plans to replace him for their upcoming tours. The statement read the following:
“We, Journey, have made the decision to have Omar Hakim play drums for the band’s upcoming US concerts (Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, June 20 and the Stadium of Fire in Provo, Utah on Saturday, July 4), as well as the band’s Canadian tour (July 6 – August 3), due to Deen Castronovo’s pending issues. We are very grateful to Omar filling in with his musical excellence”.
For now, we won’t see Deen Castronovo in the music scene for a while as he works to rehabilitate and work through his personal situations.
