Mark Lanegan Announces New Vinyl Collection One Way Street Featuring His First Five Solo Albums

Singer-songwriter Mark Lanegan, who began his career in music in 1984, has announced that he will be issuing a vinyl collection in November containing his first five solo albums.

Lanegan will be releasing the collection via Sub Pop Records on November 20, 2015. It will contain his first five solo albums and the compilation’s title is One Way Street. The box holding the vinyl collection is embossed faux-leather and the records contained within are pressed on 180-gram vinyl. Three of the titles have been out of print for years, one was released in the vinyl format in Europe only and another was only ever released on CD. Each record is cut from new lacquers and cased in a sleeve featuring the art from its original release.

Four of the records included in the compilation are from the 1990s, while the fifth had its original issue in 2001. Lanegan’s first solo album, The Winding Sheet, debuted in spring 1990. His fourth solo album was entitled I’ll Take Care of You and was made up of cover songs that Lanegan recorded by artists who had inspired him throughout his career. In his early years, Lanegan worked with Dinosaur Jr.’s Mike Johnson, who helped write, arrange and produce some of the tracks and records appearing in this collection.

The most recent album by Lanegan, Houston (Publishing Demos 2002), was released in August 2015 and contained deferred tracks that had originally been recorded in 2002, after his project Screaming Trees split. Prior to this year’s album, he released Phantom Radio in 2014.

He hasn’t just been working on solo projects in the past few years, though. The Mark Lanegan Band was very active in 2014, releasing their five-track No Bells on Sunday EP in early August and debuting new song called “Flood of the Ocean” less than a month later. The band followed that up in September with another new track entitled “Harvest Home,” which sounds like the perfect track to introduce autumn.

Lanegan’s One Way Street collection is currently available for pre-order via Sub Pop’s online store. The vinyl box set costs $90, while a digital version of the collection costs $50. See the five albums included in the collection below.
