Rock musician and songwriter Peter Buck announced the release of solo album, Warzone Earth, that will be unleashed through Little Axe Records on October 16. According to Spin, the “magnum opus” features two alternate covers designed by “the folk art legend” Mingering Mike alongside contributions from stellar artists such as Scott McCaughey, Jeff Tweedy, Bill Rieflin, Krist Novoselic, and Kurt Bloch.
Promising that it will “blow a lot of minds”, Buck also revealed a collaboration that will lead to a new record with alternative country rock band Jayhawks. “I’ve just had an exciting couple of weeks working with Tucker Martine on the new record by The Jayhawks which is a stunning tour de force,” Buck confirmed.
Warzone Earth is Peter Buck’s first solo album since the 2014 release I Am Back to Blow Your Mind Once Again. The co-founder and lead guitarist of the alternative rock band R.E.M stated:
All kidding aside, it’s the best solo record I have made, and I’m excited for it to be out in the world. It’s available through littleaxerecords.com who distributes the record. It should also be available in all the cool independent record stores in your neighborhood, once again, vinyl only, but feel free to make a cassette for your friends.
Buck was recently highlighted in the fourth annual Todos Santos Music Festival after a powerful, enthusiastic performance with his band Super Earth.
