Shelf Life’s new video for “Sinking Just Right” has been released, featuring the accompaniment to the melancholic indie electro track.
The video starts off with a sad man pouring bottles and bottles of cheap vodka in a swimming pool. From slow motion shots to surveying the damage around him, it overall gives a depressing hopeless vibe. Stereogum seems to think it is a modern day commentary on depression, suicide, and the pressures of 21st century capitalism. This is highlighted by the fact the man is in a suit, with the track questioning through the lyrics “Does everyone hate me?”
Shelf Life’s Everyone Make Happy is an incredible representation of what makes the project unique – drawing from aspects outside of electronic music like folk and indie. It makes for a really cool sound drawing from some alternative rock tones.
“Sinking Just Right” may be a melancholic track, but it’ll tug at your emotions just as hard through the powerful skill. Be sure to check out the video for “Sinking Just Right” by Shelf Life as you’ll find the whole aesthetic of it slightly disturbing but really interesting.
