Young Ejecta has released a NSFW video for “Your Planet.”
The synth pop duo’s video for their almost three-minute song, from their 2014 mini-albumThe Planet, shows Young Ejecta member Leanne Macomber (also of Neon Indian) set in a blue and black room and dressed as several characters such as a boxer, a businessperson and a composer. Just before the characters appear, a frame from the video writes ‘now you’re gone, I can only dream, of all the things, you might have been.’ “Your Planet” is a commemoration to the group’s friend, who passed away at a young age.
A statement from Macomber reads:
this video was made as a memorial for my dear friend Josiah who died right as we were entering adulthood. I’m often haunted by the fact that he never had the chance to fulfill the prophecy of those teen years. That the big dreams, dramas, and pageantry was all for nothing. With this video I wanted to playfully purge some feelings of loss by allowing Josiah to embody various tropes of manhood. I also hoped to share the futility I’ve often felt without his support and guidance throughout my 20’s. ‘now you’re gone, I can only dream, of all the things, you might have been’ is not only a lament for one of my favorite people to ever walk this earth, its a lament for the failures and loneliness I’ve experienced in this decade without him.
Young Ejecta released The Planet in January of this year, which in a review by mxdwn described as an album that “creates a musical backdrop that’s dreamy without verging much into the avant-garde.” The duo recently released a video for their single “Into Your Heart.”
