Actress and musician Rose McGowan has shared a NSFW video for “RM486.”
Directed by Jonas Åkerlund and French electro band Punishment, the video is a piece representing the different
versions of McGowan herself that are shown to the public; Each of her characters- The Alien, Dark Beauty, Green Hair Hollywood, Needles, Red Glitter Bomb, and Art, are a collaboration with costume designer B. Åkerlund, also the wife of Jonas Åkerlund. The video is McGowan’s representation of who she is and an alternative definition of beauty that opposes societies standards.
A statement from McGowan reads:
“I am a version of all five characters in the video. All are pieces that make up my whole – as an artist, a public figure and most importantly, as a person. I am pushing back at the idea of who I am suppose to be, to embrace who I want to be. Changing the idea of what beauty is and exposing people to art in a real way is what I want to do. There is true power in art and true power in we who believe in it. I hope you will join me on this journey of promoting art, pushing boundaries and never being afraid to be who you are.”
McGowan recently starred in Charlie XCX’s video for “Break the Rules.” Rose has yet to announce an album to follow up the single, but the song can be purchased via iTunes.
